FoF thanks Staten Island Borough President for facilitating an office at the Staten Island Advance!

FoF is extremely grateful to Staten Island Borough President James Oddo for facilitating our use of an office at the Staten Island Advance on W. Fingerboard Road! Thanks to the BP and the SI Advance, we can offer convenient counseling to the many members of the FDNY firefighter community who live on Staten Island.

Kristina Hamilton, LCSW, will be available on Staten Island on Mondays and Tuesdays 9-5PM. Contact us for more info or to schedule an appointment!

Photos from today’s BTIG Charity Day!

FoF is honored to participate in BTIG Charity Day tomorrow with Steve Buscemi!

FoF Executive Director Nancy Carbone will be joined by Celebrity Guest Trader Steve Buscemi in BTIG’s annual Charity Day tomorrow, May 2nd.

BTIG Charity Day is an annual event in which celebrities, professional athletes, and other partners act as representatives for the charity of their choice while raising money through encouraging traders to raise money for their cause. 2017 is FoF’s first year participating and we are so honored that BTIG and Steve are giving us so much support.

Happy Birthday, Gary Sinise!

Happy 62nd birthday to actor, director, and long-time FoF supporter Gary Sinise! His organization, The Gary Sinise Foundation, supports military personnel, veterans, and first responders, including FoF and the FDNY. He is pictured below with FoF board member Danny Prince and Executive Director Nancy Carbone after being sworn in as Honorary Battalion Chief of the FDNY.

Kenneth Pogan, Sr. Memorial Mass – Wednesday, February 22nd

Kenny, retired with 33 years on the job, started as an auxiliary firefighter with E18 and an FDNY fire alarm dispatcher at the Brooklyn Central Office. Once he passed the firefighters test, he was assigned to Squad 3, from there transferring to E28, Squad 1, then Battalion 22. Kenny spent several days a week at Friends of Firefighters, helping things run smoothly in our historic firehouse, especially when it came to advising for historical accuracy in the firehouse renovations, and educating us on history of the FDNY. Kenny passed away in February of 2015, but his memory lives on.
