Friends of Firefighters provides confidential, independent and free counseling and wellness services to active and retired FDNY firefighters and their families.
Friends of Firefighters, Inc. (FoF) is a New York City not-for-profit organization that began as a community-based group in response to the events of September 11, 2001. We've grown from a small group of volunteers who dropped by firehouses to offer relief in the aftermath of 9/11 to a well-established and respected mental health service provider.
Our office headquarters, set in a revitalized historic firehouse in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn, serves as a central meeting spot for active and retired firefighters to relax, exchange information and access a wide array of services specific to their needs. We offer tailored, individual counseling, couples counseling, family counseling, confidential group meetings, peer support programs, yoga, acupuncture, financial guidance, disaster relief, and referrals to many other resources.
Over the years we have worked together with a number of dedicated partners including Gary Sinise Foundation, van Ameringen Foundation, MDRT Foundation, New York City Council, Cantor Fitzgerald, and BTIG among others to accomplish projects, introduce new programs, and continue expanding our services list for the FDNY community.
