Burning Issues
Burning Issues is a free, confidential, firefighter-led online drop-in support group serving active and retired New York City firefighters. At the helm is Victor D’Aquino, a 26-year veteran of the New York City Fire Department.
Drop-In Support Groups
Facilitated by Lauren Johnson, LMFT, drop-in support groups (one for firefighters and one for family members) offer opportunities to learn self-care, coping techniques, and transition management.
One-on-One Peer Support
Firefighters and families who prefer less formal counseling and don’t wish to join a group can speak confidentially to trained peers for the specialized support they need.
On the Arm Breakfast
Established in 2003 by the late Tony ‘Cat’ Catapano, On the Arm Breakfast is held every Wednesday morning from 9:00-11:00 AM at our Red Hook location. Meet other FDNY members, active and retired, in a casual and small group setting, a great way to connect with new and old friends over coffee and a made-to-order breakfast.
Firehouse Kitchen Talk
Firehouse Kitchen Talk is a monthly program that gives firefighters an opportunity to hear from and talk to someone who understands what they are going through. Dinner and presentations are prepared by firefighters, for firefighters, on the last Thursday of the month from 6:00 - 9:00 PM.
